Wait, what?
The map shows approximate locations of street art mosaics made by the artist Invader . There are over 4000 mosaics in 80+ different places, including Paris 🇫🇷 (over 1000 mosaics!), New York, Berlin, London and Bangkok.
The mosaics can be scanned in the official Flash Invaders app . When you find a new mosaic, you get points and you get to hear a triumphant melody.
This mapping project is not affiliated with the author of the mosaics (or with the Flash Invaders app). It’s available on the web for free, with no promises about data quality or completness.
Doesn’t using a map spoil the fun?
Potentially! Whether to use a map like this or not is a personal preference (and for some, a question of ethics, morality and fair play :)).
To keep the search interesting, the map only shows approximate location of each mosaic. The marker on the map is placed in a random location within 10m of the location in our database (which may contain further imprecisions).
Features
Mosaic status
The map displays a status of each mosaic: OK / damaged / destroyed. Note that a mosaic that is “destroyed” today may be reactivated in the future. (You can read more about the fascinating world of the “reactivators” in the New Yorker profile devoted to Invader and the invaders-spotting community.)
Mark as flashed
You can mark each mosaic as flashed, which will make it appear as grayed out in the map. The list of flashed mosaics is stored locally in your browser. You can download and back it up yourself (and restore from backup) by clicking on “Settings”.
Filtering
You can hide the mosaics you already flashed (and the ones that are not flashable) by selecting “Hide flashed and not flashable” in Settings.
Hints
Just for fun, the map displays fun facts and trivia about some of the mosaics and their locations.
Contributions
If you want to help develop the map by correcting errors, adding missing mosaics or contributing fun facts (hints), you can send us a CSV file in the following format: id,lat, lng, hint
.
For example:
id,lat,lng,hint
PA_02,48.8610739,2.3503834,
To find the geo coordinates of a location, you can right click on it in the web/computer version of Google Maps.
Contributions are welcome via email: invaders [at] (domain of this website). Thanks!
Version history

Credits
This map is not the first one of its kind. There is an unofficial paid iOS app with a very detailed map covering multiple cities. The artist himself has published books and print maps before. Other unofficial digital maps of varying quality and completness can be found online.
See this post with more context on why I made this map.
The map integrates data from various sources, including:
- contributions from the users. Thank you to Tim, Michel, Alexander, Janet, Frédéric, Tom, Thibault, Laurent and others!
- Space Oddity : addresses for the mosaics in Paris
- Invader Spotter : tracking the status of each mosaic (OK / damaged / destroyed)
- Invaded Map : a beautiful and comprehensive map
The tech stack:
- geocoder and Google Maps Platform geocoding API : mapping addresses to geographical coordinates
- LeafletJS : the JS library that renders the map
- OpenStreetMap : the provider of the background tiles .
Other pointers:
- The official Invader website : the artist who created all those beautiful mosaics. 🫶
Conclusion
Hope you find this map of space invader mosaics handy. Happy hunting!
